A message from Choir Director Carder Manning
in 2009
Today in 2016, Carder Manning, former Southwest choir director, is retired and lives in Belton, Missouri. He wrote the following message in 2009 to the class of 1969: "I retired in 1995 after teaching thirty-nine years, full time, in the music classrooms of the greater Kansas City high schools: William Chrisman (1956-1958), Southeast (1958-1960), Southwest (1960-1969) and Penn Valley Community College (1969-1995). After retirement I taught ten more years as an adjunct faculty member at PVCC through 2005. I have organized and directed several community choirs, and I recently retired from church music after fifty-eight years as a choir director. I married a charming lady, Marty, in 1989, and we will celebrate our twentieth anniversary this December. I loved my musical career and Southwest High School stands out as a crowning achievement. My sincere regards to each of you!" |
